job description

the commercial analyst position is a key entry level role, enabling strong candidates to get immersed in a p&l driven environment, develop core analytical skills, and build up knowledge of the energy markets. the core contributions are to monitor and accurately capture trading p&l/ exposure, maintain trade capture database, develop an understanding of the operational events/ costs type and the consequential impact on trading p&l/ exposure. essentially, supporting the day to day running of the trading desk. the commercial analyst also gets the opportunity to play the contributing role in risk management on corporate level and gain hands on experience in back office/ operational matters.

responsibilities include:

• maintain trade data capture database by ensuring that all costs/ p&l items are accurately and promptly captured in the system

• monitor and accurately reflect trading p&l/ exposure and demonstrate good understanding of trading strategies and cost management

• understand the consequential impact of operational events/ costs type on trading p&l/ exposure

• contributing role in risk management on corporate level by ensuing that audit/ risk measures are complied with

• hands-on involvement in back office and operational matters

• contribute in the accurate futures operations with the operations and back office teams

• developing and maintaining relationships with the relevant 3rd parties to support trading activities (as required)

qualifications

• engineering/technical/marketing/finance/it degree or equivalent with an outstanding academic record

• analytical, energetic, hardworking and proactive

• numerical proficiency

• good eq and communication skills
